The Dominion 1912 Invites You
JOSH HANSEN
QUÉBEC CITY, QUÉBEC
On a one way street in the heart of Old Quebec, commuters busily weave
through one another on the way to another cup of coffee or espresso from the
Hotel Dominion’s complimentary coffee bar.
Located in the hallway that leads to the main elevator, and the hotel’s
spacious and charming 60 rooms, the 24-hour coffee service is a great way to
strike up conversations with other guests or relax while reading a newspaper
in the charismatic ambiance. Everything is very relaxed at the Dominion
1912, even if the occasional caffeine jolt says otherwise.
The Dominion’s rooms preach comfort without sacrificing price (off-season
prices start at $169 per night, including continental breakfast). Simplicity
meets style while the view of Old Quebec and the nearby shops and fine
dining restaurants, both within walking distance, only add value.
If you manage to leave your room, the Dominion 1912 is steps away from the
Quebec City ferry to Levis, a vibrant tourist hot spot rich in culture and
history. The well thought out concierge service will help plan your trip to
Levis or anywhere else in the city, even a coffee shop.
The Dominion 1912 gets big marks for its valet service, located in the
rear for $18 per day. Parking in the area is scarce and driving along the
tourist-filled streets of Old Quebec should be avoided if possible.
The Hotel Dominion’s location on rue St. Pierre allows the everyday
traveller to experience the wonders of Old Quebec.
Plenty of authentic and tantalizing cafes, bistros, and restaurants are
located nearby, as well as the local market. The Quartier Petit Champlain,
North America’s oldest commercial district, is also just around the corner
while a short walk through Old Quebec yields some amazing history and beauty
untouched by any other place in Canada. |
